After winning a Junior Canadian Model show at the age of 16, Jay Knudsen (stage name – Jay Bradley) knew the life he was destined to lead. He graduated from Hammarskjold High School and hit the open road to follow his dream of a career in modeling, acting and performing. After several years in Toronto, New York and now Los Angeles, Jay is ‘lovin’ life’ and enjoying some serious attention too. Jay’s larger-than-life smile and rugged good looks have always opened doors and helped fuel his career, landing multiple TV commercials, parts on network soap operas and numerous modeling roles, including that famous Maclean’s cover shot where a shirtless Knudsen was able to show off his picture perfect physique (working out is a daily ritual).

When we caught up with Jay in Los Angeles this summer, he had just come back from an audition for a new type of workout video. Again, like the Maclean’s cover, he was required to be shirtless. And just days after our chat, he got the call he was the City. It’s about three girls living in New York, I guest-starred as Charlie, the love interest of the lead character named Regina. The episode is called Bad Luck Chuck. Every girl that I date, the next guy they meet…they marry. Normally this is considered good luck, except Regina does not want to get married, so she does everything in her power to keep me as her boyfriend. It is quite humorous and it was great to be able to have some fun with the scenes.” Jay’s episode is expected to air at the beginning of January. One of Jay’s most memorable on-camera moments happened during an appearance on TV’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire. “Working with Meredith Vieira was the most fun I’ve had on any set. I was playing a groom during bridal week, and they were giving away gifts to the soon-to-be husband and wives. I drove on stage with a brand new red Vespa motorcycle and Meredith said ‘Look at the guy driving it, we will throw him in too, if you’d like.’ She was so nice,” Jay recalled.

Jay returns to Thunder Bay every Christmas and nearly every summer to visit his family and friends. “The further I move away from Thunder Bay, the more I appreciate all that it has to offer. I will always feel a strong connection with our camp on Loon Lake where I spent every summer as a kid. There is something very comforting about spending time here. And of course my trip home wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Hoito for some Finnish pancakes and eating home cooked meals from my dad’s garden on Oliver Road.”
